Summer heats up with events planned in and around Cal Anderson Park!
From Pride to Rocky Horror Picture Show and the Capitol Hill Garage Sale, Cal Anderson Park is the place to be this summer!
One Seattle Day of Service / Art in the Park Jam - Saturday, May 18
Volunteers across the city will be beautifying their neighborhoods. Registration is open here for those who’d like to join the city’s work party in Cal Anderson Park. In addition, artists will be painting while DJs provide music to keep everybody moving and dancing. Musical performances will occur throughout the day consisting of Dance performances, singing, emcees, a live beat session, an amateur community graffiti wall, poetry and more!
Taking Pride in Capitol Hill - Saturday, June 1
Kick off Pride Month with this all-volunteer event to clean the streets and sidewalks of Capitol Hill to prepare the community for all the events to come in June! Seattle Pride Fest will provide breakfast, lunch and t-shirt (first-come, first-served), and cleaning supplies. You provide your time, energy, and PRIDE. Register in advance here. Capitol Hill Pride March & Rally - Saturday, June 22
This march will start at noon in Cal Anderson Park, kicking-off a series of activities in the park, including a doggie drag costume contest, a fashion cat walk contest, speakers, artists, musicians and community. More information can be found here.
To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar - Friday, June 28
Hosted by Seattle Parks & Recreation as a part of their Center City Cinema series, this 1995 adventure/comedy stars Wesley Snipes, Patrick Swayze, and John Leguizamo as three New York City drag queens who embark on a road trip. Its title refers to an iconic autographed photo of Julie Newmar that they carry with them on their journey.
PrideFest Capitol Hill - Saturday, June 29
PrideFest Capitol Hill is back! Spanning 6 blocks of Broadway and Cal Anderson Park, featuring local businesses, beer gardens, family and youth programming, three stages, and the most fun you’ll have on Capitol Hill all year long! Festivities kick-off at noon and run until 8 p.m. — more information on how to participate here.
Cal Anderson Park Movie Night / “Chicago” - Friday, July 5
Hosted by Seattle Parks & Recreation as a part of their Center City Cinema series, this 2002 movie/musical is based on the 1975 Broadway musical set in the Jazz Age and follows the rise to fame and rivalry between Roxie Hart (Zellweger) and Velma Kelly (Zeta-Jones), two murderers who find themselves in jail together awaiting trial in 1920s Chicago.
Cal Anderson Movie Night / “Mama Mia” - Friday, July 12
Hosted by Seattle Parks & Recreation as a part of their Center City Cinema series, this 2008 jukebox musical romantic comedy film is based on the songs of ABBA and follows a young bride-to-be who invites three men to her upcoming wedding, with the possibility that any of them could be her father.
SLOWBURN Dance / “Last Last Last” - Saturday, July 13
SLOWBURN Dance will be sharing an excerpt of "Last Last Last" as part of a free dance performance through Seattle Parks & Recreation. This work will be adapted from it's original version to fit Cal Anderson Park. No advanced registration is necessary for this performance, just show up!
Cal Anderson Concert Series / “Heavy Sounds Causing a Quagmire”
Seattle Parks & Recreation is back at it again with a free concert series in Cal Anderson Park. Featuring Off99, Noah Coinflip, Sugarpea, and Quaad, this show will kick-off at 5 p.m. and run until about 10 p.m.. This event is produced in partnership with Selected Records. Come hang out!
Cal Anderson Park Movie Night / “Rocky Horror Picture Show” - Friday, July 26
Hosted by Seattle Parks & Recreation as a part of their Center City Cinema series, this classic 1975 musical comedy horror film is a tribute to the early science fiction and B horror movies of the 1930s-1960s and follows a young engaged couple whose car breaks down in the rain near a castle occupied by Dr. Frank N. Furter, a mad scientist.

15th Annual Capitol Hill Garage Sale - August 11, 2024
Save the Date! This annual event is Seattle’s longest running community-wide garage sale and regularly features over 100 people selling their treasures in Cal Anderson Park in addition to many independent garage sales at homes across Capitol Hill. The Cal Anderson Park Alliance hosts the Capitol Hill Garage Sale in partnership with the Seattle Parks and Recreation, Hunters Capitol, the GSBA and Capitol Hill Business Alliance, and the Capitol Hill Seattle Blog. We want to offer a day for our neighbors to come together, shed some extra belongings, do some recycling and meet new friends! For more information about timing and registration, look here.

Capitol Hill Farmers’ Market - Weekly on Sundays (& Tuesday evenings through the summer!)
This weekly farmers’ market is a staple of Capitol Hill and moved to the northwest corner of the park in recent years — activating E. Barbara Bailey Way on Sundays from from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.. This summer, the Farmers’ Market returns on Tuesday evenings through September 24th. More information about the weekly markets here.
Caring for Capitol Hill - Monthly
Do you care about Capitol Hill? Join your fellow community members for a monthly Capitol Hill community clean-up! Each month, members of the community come together from 10 a.m. to 12 noon to pick up trash, clear storm drains, and report unsafe materials to the City. All you need to bring is yourself -- tools, gloves, safety vests, and light refreshments will be provided! The More information on times and locations here.
